Chief Minister’s Girl Child Protection Scheme

Long‑term savings and fixed deposit to promote higher education and prevent early marriage of girl children.

What the Scheme Does (Objective)

  • Creates a long‑term savings / fixed deposit for the girl’s future.
  • Encourages families to keep the girl in school and college instead of early marriage.
  • Pays a lump‑sum amount when the girl completes higher education or reaches the specified age, to support education, skill training, or marriage.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Girl children from economically weaker sections as per government income criteria.
  • Family must be resident of Tamil Nadu.
  • Registration usually must be done when the girl is below a specified age (as per scheme rules).
  • The girl should be enrolled and continuing in school/college as required by the scheme.

Required Documents

  • Girl child’s birth certificate
  • Aadhaar of parents and girl child (if available)
  • Income certificate
  • Community/caste certificate (if applicable)
  • School/college admission proof (bonafide certificate, ID card, etc.)
  • Bank account details of parent/guardian (for deposit/benefit)
  • Passport‑size photographs

Where to Apply

This scheme operates strictly via offline physically filed submissions. Applications can be acquired and filed at the following nodal centers:

District Social Welfare Office
Block Development Office / Taluk Office (Social Welfare section)
ICDS / Anganwadi Centre (for initial guidance and form)
Office Visit Advice: Always bring duplicates of your identity, address proofs, and recent photographs to avoid return trips.
