Addressing social workers and geriatric caregivers, Hon. Minister highlighted the sacred societal obligation to protect elders from neglect and provide compassionate healthcare.

Speaking at a special symposium on senior citizens welfare, Hon. Minister K. Jagadeshwari called for a collaborative framework uniting government departments, voluntary organizations, and civil society to protect the rights of senior citizens.

Key topics discussed included establishing regular geriatric health screening camps in taluk hospitals, strict enforcement of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, and upgrading living facilities in registered care homes.

The Minister also commended voluntary groups that provide palliative care, recreational clubs, and mental well-being sessions for elderly citizens.
